Technically this isn’t so much of a premiere as we dropped this on our Rinse FM show last weekend and have had it streaming on our Bass playlist on 22tracks LDN for a number of days now… BUT this is the first opportunity we’ve had to extol it’s virtues in print form. The fact that the print itself is on a computer screen bears little relevance, I’m sure we’re all past the death of print journalism thing by now, right…?
Anyway, ‘Eschatology’* is the marked highlight of Lithuanian producer 96wrld‘s forthcoming Private Language EP for the Error Broadcast label because, basically, it’s a truck load of different things all at once. Running at a house tempo, it’s a complete fucking oddball, driven by spoken “wow”-like samples as percussion, insanely high pitched drops and clattering drum lines. It evolves through drastic and dramatic shifts like they were nothing, all the time fully knowing how honed and ridiculous it sounds. Honestly, sometimes a jam like just sticks so far out that it’s kind of physically impossible to ignore.
96wrld’s Private Language is out on vinyl/digital through Error Broadcast on 23rd September.
