Swedish Grammy award winner, Daniel Savio, aka the producer who came up with the one word genre description, ‘skweee,’ after squeezing every element he could out of a primitive synthesizer, just unleashed a free album. Entitled Skweeefrigerator it’s ten tracks in total and it’s as deep a concoction of potent computer funk that you’d expect from one of the first artists to release on the formative Flogsta Danshall imprint. Full of awkward approaches, juddering bass lines and those all important caterwauling high pitched synth lines it’s a full bodied accompaniment to his Nekropolis album that was released last year on Losonofono Records.

Described by recent SR mixer [Slow Hand] Motëm as “skweee in its most raw and primal state,” the album feels like full, complete songs rather than half finished ideas. “Ancient cavemen never did skweee,” Motëm continued, in conversation with the 20 Shot Sequence blog, “but if they did, Savio would be the one with the big club hitting sabertooth tigers with it and taking them home to his cave.”

“Receiving this release right in time for spring is deceiving because it feels cold,” Motëm muses after repeated listens. “This album is the equivalent to the late arrival of spring – when you think it’s gonna start warming up but the chill remains well into April [and is] then followed by rain. This is the reign of supreme, raw skweee. Few can do this.”
